“Just a quick note of thanks for your input and work with the installation. The engineers were pleasant and hard working. All and all everything went as planned and like clock-work. The Client and ourselves are happy with the final product. A big thank you to everyone. We look forward to working with you again.”

Generators

To take into account prolonged mains power failures, generators provide extended autonomy, and further support air-conditioning, lighting and selected non-critical services. Our Powerworks technical team will advise you on compatibility of the generator with other equipment, and take responsibility for the entire system.

When longer autonomy or back-up time is required, a diesel generator can be a more economical option for businesses than expensive batteries. This system will give you a far greater back-up time than a UPS alone, and will provide power for as long as diesel is available.

To complement its range of high quality UPS systems, Powerworks supply, install and maintain a complete range of diesel generator sets. Our extensive installation experience, whether for a stand-alone or a UPS matched system, means we can meet your exact requirements. Whatever the choice, it will provide an optimum single point of responsibility for the entire resilient power system - from system design, to maintenance, to emergency call-out services.

Installation

There are two choices when it comes to installation. Plant room installations are used when you have a suitable room available within your building. This often offers the most efficient way of connecting to your existing electricity supply plus it can prevent problems with difficult planning permission. External weather / sound reduction enclosures are normally used when internal space is difficult to find and a suitable area is available immediately outside the building.

Ensuring the UPS and diesel generator are compatible is an important factor for a secure power supply. The size of the generator must be optimised to give the best performance. Advice from a single source ensures this interface is expertly managed.

The Powerworks range of diesel generators covers 5 to 2000kVA as standard with larger sizes available as a special design. Many of our nationwide installations require the highest possible integrity of power supply. These installations range from single automatic mains failure units to fully synchronised / load shedding installations. We have in-depth experience of dual mutual standby systems where one generator will provide back-up to the first unit. This ensures optimum availability of back-up power and is currently used by ambulance services and other customers whose needs are extremely sensitive.

To accompany the diesel generator set, Powerworks will also design, supply and install full generator control panels, automatic transfer switches (ATS) and LV distribution. The design of the automatic start sequence is integral to the overall system as sufficient battery autonomy time is required on the UPS to allow the generator to start, run up to speed and obtain the correct voltage and frequency.
